Perimenopause and menopause can affect much more than your menstrual cycle. As estrogen, progesterone, and other hormones change, some women experience hot flashes, night sweats, poor sleep, brain fog, mood changes, vaginal dryness, reduced libido, and changes in body composition.

- Bioidentical hormone therapy: “Bioidentical” describes hormones with the same chemical structure as hormones produced by the body. Some bioidentical medications are FDA-approved; others are compounded. The term does not mean a medication is risk-free or that a compounded preparation is safer or more effective.
- Estrogen and progesterone therapy: Estrogen can help relieve bothersome menopausal symptoms and prevent bone loss in appropriately selected patients. When systemic estrogen is prescribed to a woman who still has a uterus, a progestogen is usually needed to protect the uterine lining. Depending on the treatment and your health history, risks can include blood clots, stroke, and certain cancers. If you still have a uterus, systemic estrogen usually requires a progestogen to protect the uterine lining.
FDA labeling changes do not mean these risks have disappeared. Your provider reviews your personal and family history, explains the options, and reassesses whether the benefits continue to outweigh the risks during treatment.
Here’s a fuller look at what the WHI study found and what’s changed since.
Perimenopause often begins in your forties, sometimes earlier, and the hallmark is that your cycles become unpredictable while other things shift alongside. Common signs are hot flashes and night sweats, sleep that breaks up around 3am, brain fog and losing words mid-sentence, irritability or anger that feels disproportionate, weight gain around the middle that responds to nothing, joint aches, and a drop in libido. Less expected ones — heart palpitations, tinnitus, changes in body odor, burning mouth — are also real and commonly dismissed.
You don’t have to have stopped menstruating to be in perimenopause, and you don’t have to wait until you have.
Estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone, in bioidentical forms — molecules structurally identical to what your body produces. Most treatment plans use a combination rather than a single hormone, tailored to your labs and your symptoms. We also address thyroid imbalances, which frequently sit underneath symptoms that look hormonal.
We use creams, patches, injections, and oral forms. We don’t currently offer pellets.
That’s a clinical preference rather than an availability issue: pellets are implanted and release hormone steadily for three to six months, which means that if the dose turns out to be wrong for you, there’s no straightforward way to adjust it until it wears off. Adjustable methods let us respond to your labs and how you’re actually feeling. If pellets are specifically what you want, we’re glad to point you toward a provider who offers them.
Testosterone may be considered for selected women with persistent, distressing low sexual desire. Evaluation includes possible medical, medication-related, relationship, and other contributing factors—not testosterone testing alone.
Treatment can cause side effects, including acne and increased facial hair, and long-term risks remain under investigation. Your provider explains the proposed medication, its approval status for the intended use, potential risks, and monitoring requirements before prescribing.
We check estradiol, progesterone, FSH, LH, total and free testosterone, a full thyroid panel including TSH and free T3 and T4, plus a complete blood count and metabolic panel. Timing can matter depending on where you are in your cycle, and we’ll tell you when to come in. We can draw labs here in the clinic, or send you to LabCorp if that’s easier.
Sleep and hot flashes usually improve first, often within two to four weeks. Mood, energy, and mental clarity typically follow over six to twelve weeks. Libido and body composition take longer — three months or more — and depend on other factors alongside the hormones. We adjust your dose based on follow-up labs and how you’re feeling, not a fixed schedule, so the first few months usually involve some fine-tuning.
No. Menopausal hormone therapy is not contraception. Pregnancy can still occur during perimenopause. Tell your provider if pregnancy prevention is needed so contraception and symptom treatment can be considered together.

The were extremely patient and even had the owner Mr Jordan answer more grilling questions I had lol. I myself usually gained weight from eating to much and the shots along with the great nutrition advice by the staff help a lot with getting your weight down. The facility is very clean and beautiful. Staff is very friendly and personable. They also are very knowledgeable with any questions you may have. Also a plus is it works well with your schedule. I only need to come in once a week or so for the shots and if you’re scared of shots like I am this one isn’t nearly that bad. The shot just feels like a tiny pinch but other than that this place is well deserving of a 5 star and I would recommend it to anyone looking to lose weight healthily.
