How Testosterone Therapy Works
Testosterone replacement therapy, commonly called TRT, is a medical treatment used to restore testosterone levels in men with clinically confirmed testosterone deficiency.
Testosterone plays an important role in sexual function, muscle maintenance, bone health, red blood cell production, mood, and overall physical function. When testosterone levels are consistently low and symptoms are present, testosterone therapy may be appropriate.
At Balanced Bodies, TRT begins with an evaluation of your symptoms, health history, and laboratory results. If treatment is appropriate, your provider will determine the appropriate testosterone therapy approach and monitor your testosterone levels and other relevant health markers over time.
Because every patient responds differently, testosterone therapy should be individualized rather than based on a one-size-fits-all protocol.
Enclomiphene: An Alternative to Testosterone for Some Men
Where the problem is secondary hypogonadism — the testes can still produce testosterone but the pituitary signal is weak — enclomiphene may be an option. Instead of supplying testosterone from outside, it prompts your own production. That distinction matters most when fertility is a consideration: exogenous testosterone suppresses sperm production and testicular function, and enclomiphene does not.
Enclomiphene is not an FDA-approved medication. An application received a Complete Response Letter in 2015 and it has not been approved since. It is prepared by a licensed 503A compounding pharmacy under FDA enforcement discretion rather than approval, and has not been reviewed by the FDA for safety or effectiveness for this use. Whether it suits you depends on your LH and FSH alongside your testosterone. Your provider will go through the options at your free consultation.
Potential Benefits of Testosterone Replacement Therapy
For appropriately selected men with confirmed testosterone deficiency, TRT may improve sexual desire and some other symptoms associated with low testosterone. It may also improve lean body mass, bone density, or anemia in certain patients.
Results vary. Improvement in fatigue, mood, concentration, erectile function, or body weight is not guaranteed. These concerns can have causes unrelated to testosterone and may require a different evaluation or treatment.

That’s a deliberate choice: insurance coverage for testosterone therapy typically requires documenting a formal hypogonadism diagnosis, which can mean repeat testing, prior authorizations, and treatment decisions shaped by a coverage policy rather than by your labs and how you feel. Paying directly keeps your plan between you and your provider, and keeps the price predictable at $100 a month.
Yes to both. Testosterone is a Schedule III controlled substance in the United States, so it can only be prescribed by a licensed provider after a proper evaluation — and it’s completely legal when obtained that way. Testosterone sold online without a prescription, or marketed as a research chemical or a supplement, is not legal and carries no manufacturing oversight at all. At Balanced Bodies, all care is delivered by our nurse practitioner in collaboration with our supervising physician.
Your provider selects testing based on your symptoms, history, and examination. Evaluation generally includes testosterone testing, with repeat confirmation when appropriate. Other tests may assess the cause of low testosterone and whether treatment would be suitable.
We can draw labs at our Marietta clinic or arrange testing through LabCorp. Your provider gives you instructions about timing and preparation.

I myself usually gained weight from eating to much and the shots along with the great nutrition advice by the staff help a lot with getting your weight down. The facility is very clean and beautiful. Staff is very friendly and personable. They also are very knowledgeable with any questions you may have. Also a plus is it works well with your schedule. I only need to come in once a week or so for the shots and if you’re scared of shots like I am this one isn’t nearly that bad. The shot just feels like a tiny pinch but other than that this place is well deserving of a 5 star and I would recommend it to anyone looking to lose weight healthily.
